MARC EVAN - @MarcManiac: Murals + Illustration + Fine Art Work Sketch About Bio Feed Pumpkins Shop Originals Prints The Star Child 113 Commissions Marc Evan Murals + Illustration + Fine Art Work Sketch About Bio Feed Pumpkins Shop Originals Prints The Star Child 113 Commissions Star Child Acrylic on wood panel. 10"x10" 2014 "Breathing New Worlds Into Existence" Acrylic on wood panel. 12"x12" 2015 Cosmic Manifestations Pencil on Paper. 2014 Bronx VIP Mural Bridging Transformation 68' x 32' 2014 This large scale mural was part of a community based program via Groundswell Murals. Our theme was "Rebirth and Recovery." I collaborated on this painting with Raul Ayala, and 20 adult men in various stages of recovery. The group had no prior art training. We began with workshops to build drawing, painting, and design skills. After scaffold training, we transferred and painted the wall. The theme of the mural is rebirth and recovery. Photos taken from the right angle can place you as the central figure in the composition. "Crown" photos are taken to commemorate an accomplishment towards recovery. Sing For Hope + Pop-Up Pianos The Sing For Hope Pop-Up Pianos placed 88 pianos, all painted by different artists, throughout New York City. They were kept available to the public for all to play and enjoy for a span of two weeks during the summer. The baby grand piano that I painted was inspired by imagery of distant nebulas, from the Hubble telescope. It was first installed at Roosevelt Island, and then Lincoln Center. Bridging Space and Time Acrylic on wood panel 16" x 20" 2014 Shown in the Brooklyn Bridge Show at Urban Folk Art Gallery, NY Earth Mother 12" x 12" Acrylic on wood. 2014 Ancient Gods of the Subconscious Mind Acrylic on paper. 2014 Chobani + Sing For Hope Chobani selected me in 2013 to be featured in an "Artist Profile" spot, promoting the Pop-Up Pianos with Sing For Hope. Pasar Malam 15' x 20' Acrylic on wall. These two murals were designed and painted by myself and Chris Soria in an almost stream of consciousness type of exercise. We infused the mostly monochromatic art with imagery relating to the Malaysian "night market" theme of the space, while also incorporating recurring themes from our respective personal works, including pareidolia, mandalas, and geometry. Mission 31 Digital painting made in Photoshop. 2013 I digitally painted several pieces of concept art for the Mission 31 team, that were used on the website, for fundraising, and promotion. Mission 31 is a record breaking program in which Fabien Cousteau lived with a team of aquanauts for 31 days under the sea. Arizona One of my favorite places to get away from it all and feel at one with my surroundings. Arizona has such breathtaking natural beauty. I love hiking to places where I can pull out my sketchbook and describe my surroundings. It is a wonderful feeling to take the time to really study a place in a sketchbook. It speaks volumes more than a photograph and is a form of meditation, in which I feel truly free. Birth of a Star 9"x12" Acrylic on wood. 2014 Morpheus 12" x 16" Black and white colored pencil on grey paper. 2014 Maniac Pumpkins Each Fall, I carve hundreds of pumpkins with my team at Maniac Pumpkin Carvers, the company I founded with Chris Soria in 2008. We create high end works of pumpkin art. Our pumpkins have been displayed at MOMA, The Whitney, and Yankee Stadium. Our clients include Martha Stewart, BMW, American Express, Disney, and Jack Daniels. Check out our website for more! Cinderella's Castle After a rough few months we decided to get away to DisneyWorld for some much needed fun. It was a Star Wars Weekend at Disney with plenty to do, so I didnt get to draw as much as usual. On our last day in The Magic Kingdom, I created this unfinished watercolor study of Cinderella's Castle. The image went viral shortly after posting online. Na Pali Coast Me and my Mrs. went to the island of Kauai to do some healing and recoup after a long and extremely challenging winter. We ate from the land, hiked, swam, kayaked, and snorkeled. We drank fruity drinks and listened to great music at Tahiti Nui. We spent a lot of time thinking, talking, and enjoying each other and our surroundings. We found some peace of mind. And we made a bunch of art. I mostly worked with watercolor or Caran D'ache aquarelle pencils in my Moleskine watercolor sketchbook. Black Wing Halo Roebling's Ghost 12" x 16" Oil on wood. 2103 Painted for the 2013 Brooklyn Bridge Show at Urban Folk Art Gallery. Painted with a mix of oil paint and the actual exterior paint used on the Brooklyn Bridge. Slash Music Video Artwork of Slash, used in filming of the Beautiful Dangerous music video featuring Fergie. 2010 Jean 11" x 16" Watercolor pencil on grey paper. 2014 Atlantic Ave Bid 22' x 108' Acrylic on wall. 2013 This mural was created with Esteban Del Valle and a group of youth artists in the Groundswell Mural program. We partnered with Brooklyn Bridge Park, the NY Department of Transportation, and the Atlantic Avenue Business Improvement District. The goal was to activate a dark underpass connecting the newly renovated park to the main avenue where there are numerous stores, restaurants, and businesses. We juxtaposed modern and historical imagery from the neighborhood with patterns derived from the local ironwork adornments on the buildings and from the rich cultural history of the neighborhood in order to tell a story while also promoting safer pedestrian traffic. Figure Drawings Beyonce Music Videos Poster artwork created for Beyonce's Girls Run The World music video and pencil drawing on grey paper for the On The Run Tour with Jay Z. Mercedes S400 TV Ad Production illustrations and concept art for the Mercedes S400 Hybrid ad which debuted during the Academy Awards. Mermaids A few of the paintings from my series of mermaid paintings. Star Wars One of my biggest influences since early childhood has been Star Wars. The mythology of the Star Wars universe burned into my impressionable young mind a code of ethics that continues to influence me to this day. Here are a few favorite Star Wars inspired pieces from my first painting (The Rancor) through some newer studies.
